  • WHAT HAPPENED?

De Bruyne's time with the reigning Premier League champions will come to an end after 10 years this summer if he does not sign a contract extension. After star striker Erling Haaland committed to a whopping deal that ties him to the club until 2034, attention has turned to De Bruyne's situation.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

De Bruyne has struggled with hamstring problems over the last two seasons, limiting him to 15 league appearances in the current campaign. The 33-year-old has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, but Pep Guardiola suggested last week that he hopes De Bruyne will follow Haaland's example by penning a new deal.

  • WHAT DE BRUYNE SAID

Despite the coach's comments, De Bruyne says there have been no discussions about his future so far, telling reporters: "I've not spoken to them for the moment. I wanted to get better, I'm doing better, so I'm happy. We'll see, something will happen. I don't think wherever I go I'll get a 10-year contract anyway, so I don't need to stress."
